It's Bourbon Street in New Orleans, without the authenticity. Once you discover that Duval is a fairly recent invention, it makes more sense. If you've been to New Orleans, you've done this but better - even our 18 and 22 year olds thought the Duval scene was somewhat tame (granted, we left by 11 PM, so I am sure things got crazier after that - but we hadn't been wandering late in N.O. either). That said, it is fun. Lots of shopping, lots of dining, lots of good people-watching. The usual risque t-shirt shops on every block. Fun to walk up and down for an evening or two...

There are tons of cool shops, galleries, restaurants and bars which are fun and crowded during the day. At night things get wild but fun. Certain areas are not really appropriate for young kids but there's something for everyone on this street. Where the action is!

Walk the street -- from bars with music, to shopping, to nicer restaurants, drag bars and interesting character bars to the peace of the water end to end Fun in the tropics!

You can walk Duval Street in an hour or so. You could spend days and days going into all the places on Duval Street. There all manner of eateries from fine dining to laid-back bistros and cafes. There are dozens of art galleries of all price points, inns, coffee shops, tour stands, souvenir shops, nail salons, bars, dance clubs, cabarets, you name it. The basically one-mile long street connects the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, and is really the heart of Key West. It is also a neighborhood, and as such has grocery stores, drug stores, etc. The pace is slow, the traffic is slow, and you can walk from Mallory Square to the Southernmost Point (a block off Duval Street). There are also some amazing private homes all along Duval Street; numerous small inns are within a couple of blocks on either side of the street. Bring your camera and your comfy walking shoes! HINT: if you grow weary, there are dozens of pedicabs for hire all along Duval Street; no need for a car!

Great for a long walk with lots of places to stop. Get a drink along the way or do some shopping. Everything from tacky souvenir shops to really nice shopping. Wonderful art shops to wonder into. Ice cream, snacks, drinks, and food.....it has it all. I did notice it was a lot warmer and away from the ocean breeze.
