I like history, so this is such a satisfying journey for me to visit this place and take the Alishan Forest Railway from Fenchihu to Chiayi.The view during the train trip from Fenchihu to Chiayi by Alishan Forest Railway was incredibly beautiful. While waiting for your train, you can spend your time to visit the garage park to see the old train and the pictures of all the old railway from all over the world. You can also spend your time by visiting the Fenchihu old street or trekking the hill area around Fenchihu. If you wish to take the Alishan Forest Railway, please book the ticket in advance (5-15 days before) by calling this operator (05)225-1978, since the ticket is always sold out (from my experience it is sold out 5 days before the departure, even not in the peak season).The Alishan Forest Railway is operates only once a day:- 9 AM from Chiayi to Fenchihu- 2 PM from Fenchihu to ChiayiBut on the weekend, there is additional train:- 10 AM from Chiayi to Fenchihu- 3 PM from Fenchihu to ChiayiThe ticket price is NT 245 (for the 3.5 hrs journey, the price really worth it!)If your starting point is from Chiayi train station and only have one day trip, the easiest way is to take the train from Chiayi to Fenchihu, but in case you can't get the ticket (like me) and have to take the train from Fenchihu to Chiayi, then you must wake up earlier.Why? Because you need catch the bus that will take you from Chiayi to Fenchihu first, and the bus only operates once in the morning, at 7.10 AM, while the next bus is at 3.10 PM, which is already late. The bus station is exactly right in front of the Chiayi train station, so it is easy to find.

北門駅の嘉義駅側にある阿里山森林鉄道の車庫です。一部を公園として整備して開放しているものです。かつて使用された機関車、ディーゼルカーが何台も展示されています。登山鉄道用のシェイ式蒸気機関車はとてもめずらしいものです。おみやげ品の売店もありました。なお、現在も使用されている車庫なので、機関車や列車が動くこともあります。危険ですので立ち入り禁止区域には入らないようにしてください。
