去的时候鼓楼旁边正在维修；在那看了一眼就走了；华严寺什么的还行；广场上人挺多的，步行街里卖衣服的还比较便宜；质量很好；打算买，没尺码了；

这也许是大同唯一免费能看到的历史痕迹了，位于城中，保护的不是非常好，特别是周围拆迁重建的影响也比较大。不过到了还是可以看看的。

没有想象中壮观。比北京和西安的鼓楼规模要小很多，目前周围都在拆迁，交通不便，不过离华严寺和善化寺不远，可一起游玩。

在大同这个有些灰蒙蒙的城市里，鼓楼静静坐落在街道中心，每年春末夏初的时候，成群的燕子环绕鼓楼翩翩飞翔，甚是壮观，也很震撼，那时候就会觉得这才是古城大同，有着自然青睐的吉祥气息，有着鸟儿安宁的栖息，就连注视也变得肃穆。平淡生活中的鼓楼，让人瞬间回到过去，感受来自古代的美和吉祥。

Really interesting and beautiful, and best of all unexpected. Ladders inside to climb to the top but was fine for the kids (11 & 14). Beautiful inside, great views of old quarter area.

Compare to other drum towers in China this one in Datong it's not very interesting, but it looks nice.

The Drum Tower is in the old section of Datong within the old city wall. It has been well preserved and due to it's historical importance should not be missed.

Stay in the Garden Hotel in Datong (59 Yongtai Street) and you'll find the old drum tower literally on your doorstep. One of the remaining truly genuine older structures still standing in Datong. Given how Datong was an important centre of resistance during the Sino-Japanese War and was heavily shelled, it's a miracle it survived.
