Glad to see some travelers, including Chinese have actually found this museum and house in 2013. It desperately needs encouraging signage on the way to it, especially since the neighborhood is now being torn apart by massive demolition and apparent urban renewal, the street address numbering seems capricious at best, and few local people know or can explain consistently where this is. Four years ago I found it but it was closed. This time, in a driving rain, with a frustrated cabbie, I gave up. Also consider the cottage on Lushan, a much prettier pace, where Pearl Buck actually wrote "The Good Earth." Tucson folks: Insist on better signage.

I tried to visit this museum, unfortunately, I was not able to get in because I arrived at their lunch break, which is surprisingly long, from 11:30am thru 2:30pm, also note that they close on Monday.Take note that this museum requires you to have about 100m's walk up the slope from where the taxi drop you off. After you finished the visit, you can walk down the slope again, but it's not likely that you will be able to get a taxi from there, it's just another 200m's walk to the main road.

This was another jewel -- no pun intended -- in Zhenjiang. If you are not into hitting touristy places, then this is one of them. No tacky souvenir stands. No hawkers other than the businesses that are already established on Run Zhou Shan Rd. Although it is small, it is kept in good condition and most of the exhibits are bilingual. It's also free. One draw back? It's closed on Mondays.

A vey interesting opportunity to figure out the life environment of Westerners in a "small" town of China (i.e. not Shanghai!) in the twenties. And it becomes of a particular interest when it comes that it is Pearl Buck who was living there. This gives a spirit to the house. To get there (the place may not be easy to find), the best is to use one of these rickshaws from the old railway station. It's 5mn away.
