If you get a chance to listen to the 'bells and chimes' performance, you must take the time. The museum was also well done with an extensive collection of artifacts. With a local English speaking tour guide, the explanation of the artifacts was much more interesting than walking around on your own reading signs.

This is a fairly new museum actually called Hubei Provincial Museum..it contains the most amazing collection of artifacts from a single tomb dating back to 433 BC. Also in this museum is a perfect set of chime bells that includes the heaviest musical instrument in the world. Truly spectacular & a must see. Well presented , spacious & English translations. Also , adjacent to the museum is a concert hall where we were treated to a Chime Bell concert. ....again.....breathtaking.

A superb museum, beautifully organized and highly recommended. You can even see the origin of languages from Babylonian times.

The museum is well presented and full of extraordinary exhibits. The building which houses the exhibits is large scale and impressive in itself. The building comfortably absorbs large numbers of people and shows off its contents stylishly. Two hours is too little to see even just the highlights. Plan two or three visits over the period of your stay, it is worth it. The contents of tomb excavations, archaeological finds that are incomparable....such a wonderful opportunity to see real treasures ....jade, gold, bronze vessels and jewell encrusted artefacts, early skeletal remains significant in the evolution of humanity....extraordinary! I bought three books about the exhibits in Chinese and English so I could look at the pictures of what I had seen at home....loving them. You can also see and hear traditional bell playing in a short concert ... This museum will remain a highlight of my museum visiting for a very long time. I will return!
