Went to this park as a part of a cultural exchange. It was interesting...but seems like it was built for money more than anything else. There are a LOT of Buddhist things, small prayer buildings, spinning wheels, etc...but for the most part, you pay to do everything...including 150rmb just to get in. The giant Guanyin is very pretty and neat to see...but even that you have to pay extra to get inside. It's really an amazing religious money maker...to me at least. The worst part was the captured, and endangered sea turtles that you can purchase for release in return for an extra "blessing" from Guanyin...wow!However, despite the exploitation, the park is atualy VERY well taken care of compare to most things in China. And, the Guanyin statue is beautiful. That's why I give it the "mama huhu" or "so, so" rating. I'm glad I went at least once. If you're in Sanya, it's worth it to go. But, would I go again? I don't think so.Here are a few tips.1) Be prepared for the conditions. If you don't buy the extra tickets for the carts to tow you around, you'll walk a lot and it's up and down. If it's hot outside, you can count on the humidity being high...you're going to sweat...a LOT. Start early or go late...avoid the heat. Wear shoes that can walk for a long ways and not be uncomfortable.2) Try to arrange a deal with a driver to take you to/from the Nanshan area. There are for hire cars all over our there, but they'll exploit you worse than the gate. It's way better to arrange a car to take you, wait, and then bring you back. Sometimes even regular taxi's will do this for a little fee. Whatever it is, it's worth it over having to negotiate when you're pretty much stuck 40 minutes outside of town.3) Try to avoid having to eat there or even just outside the park. Everyone knows there is very little out there. We opted to eat outside the park and paid close to 4X's what we would've in town for a meal that wasn't nearly as good.4) Be patient, wear a smile, take a camera. The majority of the Chinese folks that are there are tourist along with all the foreigners. This is most likely 80% of everyone in the parks' first time visit too. Wander around, take a lot of pictures...you'll likely only go once.

We visited this attraction because we had seen the huge Guanyin statue as we were flying into Sanya. When we arrived it turned out there was much more to do at this beautiful park. You can take a electric train around the park which takes about 30 mins start to finish however there are many stops along the way. The two main attractions were the Guanyin statue and the Nanshan temple which are a must see. There are lots of places to get refreshments and souvenirs but the food is very overpriced!

The most beautiful is the Guanyin statue which has 4 faces. Each face has different expressions. Besides, that you can walk around to see. The whole place is a park actually.

Most visitors like the green environment and the chance to be close to nautre. But it is annoying to find food and drinks a bit pricey there. Do not expect too much for food. And do not go there with the heat around; you may not find it bearable.
